ONLINE EVENT: Sacred Ecology – Deep Time; reMembering our true Nature

November 20, 2024 @ 8:00 pm10:00 pm

SACRED ECOLOGY – Deep Time. reMembering our true Nature
An online conversation and experiential exploration with Inna Alex & Br. Tenzin (Dr. Alex Anderson)
*
CONTEXT
In their book “Thinking like a Mountain”, John Seed, Joanna Macy, Pat Fleming and Arne Naess outline a group therapeutic process aimed at healing the perceived rift between ourselves and our world; a rediscovery of the “ecological Self”, and an antidote to the current polycrisis.
Deep Time practices allow us to connect to a much vaster context for our experience than our own limited body and lifespan. In this session, Br. Tenzin will guide an experiential practice into “Our Life as Gaia”, one that moves us into an embodied awareness of our connection to our ancestors -both human and other-than-human, to the planet, and even the elements themselves. We will use as a framework the traditional “four elements meditation” using as our gateway the bodily sensations related to Earth, Water, fire and Air. We will also touch on some of the links between the “Epic of Evolution” and Buddha Dharma.

Br TENZIN ( Dr Alex Anderson) began his path toward Deep Ecology with a doctorate researching the impacts of Climate Change on rainforest biodiversity. Inspired by teachers such as the late Ven. Thich Nhat Hanh, and seeking a more fundamental basis for understanding and connecting to both the human and the natural world, in 2017 he ordained as a monk in the Buddhist tradition. He has since studied and practiced In the Tibetan Sakya tradition, Vietnamese Zen tradition of Plum Village, the Burmese Forest tradition, and holds a Hatha Yoga teaching qualification. He currently lives on the Mind North Coast of NSW, where he has a project to create retreat space for meditation, mindfulness and forest restoration: http:\\www.gaiaforest.org
INNA ALEX is a passionate deep ecology facilitator, community organizer, and sustainable living educator. Her earth-based lifestyle in Tui Community, New Zealand, has provided her with many practical skills in permaculture living, organic gardening, healing foods, group facilitation, relationship and women’s work.
